Arrive in style to one of the world’s most impressive and controversial art museums. The TAA seaplane will take you to MONA on this amazing half day package.
This package is the perfect way to see Hobart and its surrounding area from the air as well as visit Tasmania’s most talked about attraction.
MONA is one of the newest and quite possibly the best known tourist attraction in Tasmania and has attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world since opening in January 2011. The MONA museum and gallery houses one of the biggest private art collections in Australia and was built by David Walsh at a cost of over $100 million.
On your 15 minute seaplane flight to the MONA Tasmania gallery you will fly south along the Derwent River before flying over picturesque Hobart to MONA. The package includes lunch and drinks in Moorilla’s Wine Bar and entry to the Museum of Old and New Art.
During the flight enjoy views of the Derwent River, the northern tip of Bruny Island, Hobart City, and Mt Wellington before arriving at MONA.
Upon arrival you will be greeted by MONA staff and taken by buggy to the Wine Bar for lunch. There you can indulge in house baked bread, charcuterie, salads, cheese, and a flight – four samples – of Moorilla wine or Moo Brew beer.
After lunch you will be taken to the museum where you are free to explore one of the world’s most talked about collections of art.
Return to Hobart on board the MONA ferry or MONA ROMA coach.
Opening hours Wed-Mon 10am – 6pm (closed Tuesdays) – Open Tuesdays in January.
There are few cities as spectacular as Hobart from the air. Within only a few minutes of take-off from the Derwent River, expect to gain an appreciation for just how scenic this harbour city is. Approximately 15 minutes into your seaplane tour, you’ll fly over MONA and then land and disembark the seaplane to commence your MONA visit.
Enjoy house baked breads, Tasmanian cheese and cured meats – a full charcuterie lunch. In addition, your package includes a ‘flight’ (four samples) of Moorilla wine or Moo Brew beer. TAA staff will make a lunch reservation for a particular time at your request.
The Museum of Old and New Art is like nothing else on this planet. It will challenge you, confront you, please you and shock you but you can be assured that this spectacular building and arrangement of art will leave you wanting to know more about MONA. Take your time and enjoy everything it has to offer.
After your time at MONA, you will board the MR-1 fast ferry to make your way back to the Hobart waterfront. Alternatively, the MONA ROMA coach service is also available as part of this package. Kick back on the ferry and enjoy Hobart and the Derwent River from yet another stunning perspective.
