Wineglass Bay

On your majestic Wineglass Bay Tour you will board your seaplane from the Hobart docks and motor gently out into the Derwent River. During this water taxi your pilot will point out items of historical interest which you will hear with ease through your own headphones. You will be treated to wonderful views of the city of Hobart with Mt Wellington as the backdrop......It is now time to get out of town.

Taking off from the Derwent River the city falls away below you as your comfortable seaplane pulls you into the sky and you see the summit of Mt Wellington pass you by. Your pilot will level the aircraft at a smooth flying altitude and will update you on  geographical and historical points of interest. Within twenty minutes you will be crossing the East Coast of Tasmania and be offered wonderful views of the Maria Island National Park.

Shortly after Maria Island you will be able to view the rugged cliffs of Schouten Island which lies just off the Southern tip of the Freycinet Peninsula National Park. Cruising up the peninsula you will be treated to some of the World’s most pristine coastline with jagged dolerite columns, aqua blue water and white sandy beaches. Get your camera ready...here comes Wineglass Bay. From the air you will have no trouble making out the distinctive shape of this iconic beach.

Descending gently past Mt Amos your pilot will bring you in for a smooth water landing in a beautiful bay on the Freycinet Peninsula where you will be able to see the white sand through the crystal clear aqua water. Your pilot will bring you up onto one of the National Park's pristine beaches, where you can disembark and enjoy a refreshment (weather dependent).

With your time on the Freycinet Peninsula complete you will reboard your aircraft before you are treated to another exhilarating water takeoff and climb to altitude. 40 minutes later you will be settling softly back onto the Derwent River and taxying back into the Hobart Seaport. You did it. You got to see and walk some of the most beautiful coastline on the planet – Well done.

Note: As the Freycinet Peninsula is a designated remote area, passengers should bring a hat, sunscreen and water bottle, which are all available at passenger check-in. The aircraft will be beaching, please consider your clothing, footwear and bring a small towel.
